WYSIWYG!

Difficulty: Moderate (some varieties can be more demanding)
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive (allow space for polyp extension)
Growth Rate: Slow to Moderate (dependent on species and water conditions)
Placement: Lower to Middle
Lighting: Low to Moderate
Flow: Low to Moderate, Indirect

Ideal Parameters:
24-27Β°C
1.024 - 1.026 Salinity
8.1 - 8.4 PH
8 - 11 KH
400 - 450 Calcium
1250 - 1350 Magnesium
5 - 20 Nitrates
0.03 - 0.10 Phosphates

Additional Care:
Goniopora and Alveopora, commonly known as Flowerpot Corals, are beautiful Large Polyp Stony (LPS) corals recognised for their delicate, flower-like polyps and gentle swaying movement. Although similar in appearance, Goniopora typically have 24 tentacles per polyp, while Alveopora have 12. Both thrive in stable, established reef aquariums with gentle, indirect water movement that allows their polyps to extend naturally without being blasted by strong currents.

These corals benefit from moderate lighting and consistent water parameters, particularly stable alkalinity and detectable nitrate and phosphate levels. Regular supplemental feeding with fine powdered coral foods or small planktonic foods can encourage healthy growth, improved colouration and long-term success.

Goniopora and Alveopora should be given adequate space from neighbouring corals to allow for full polyp extension and prevent irritation or potential stinging. Alveopora are often considered slightly more forgiving, while some Goniopora varieties require additional attention to feeding and stability. Avoid sudden changes in lighting, flow or water chemistry, as these can cause prolonged polyp retraction and tissue stress.
